The soul of Austin's music community in the early 70s, Soap Ceek Saloon was a mere shack on what was then a lonely stretch of Bee Caves Road. Soap Creek was great for dancing. From couples dancing to the two-step, it kept slow dancing alive in Austin when disco ruled elsewhere.

The venue moved to the old Skyline Club (see our tee) on North Lamar, where parts of Honeysuckle Rose were filmed. Punk and New Wave were integrated, but soon it was time to move again, in 1980, to South Congress.
