RAUL's CLUB

In Austin, Texas, the Raul’s phenomenon developed a national reputation after “The Huns Bust” in September of 1978. Police had targeted the punk club, mistaking on-stage performance chaos for actual violence. On that night, they reacted with violence and attacked at least six clubgoers (including the publisher of the Austin Chronicle newspaper). The notoriety attracted acts such as Patti Smith and Elvis Costello who would pop in to jam, and brought up-and-coming acts like Cramps and Psychedelic Furs to their stage. Joe King Carrasco played Raul’s in a Tex-Mex band called El Molino. This punk rock cotton tee is solid: quality cotton construction, shoulders are tapped for a good upper-body fit; no side seams means a clean, unbroken flow. Even the collar has ribbed knitting for improved elasticity. The materials that went into this product are sustainably sourced and economically friendly.

The location had many other names over the years, including the Touchdown Lounge, the Pink Lizard Lounge, the Buffalo Gap, Gemini’s, the Hungry Horse, Sunshine’s Party, and the Texas Showdown.
