Raul’s Club quickly established itself on the Texas punk rock scene and became its epicenter between 1978 and 1982. The Violators (featuring Kathy Valentine of the Go-Gos) was on eof the first bands to play the club and what followed was a steady stream of punk and new wave bands—many of them filled with UT students, ex-students, and locals—who performed on the club’s small stage and brought in increasingly enthisiastic crowds. Bands that played Raul’s included the Skunks, Joe "King" Carrasco and the Crowns, the Standing Waves, the Dicks, Sharon Tate's Baby, Boy Problems, the Chickadiesels, the Delinquents, D-Day, an all-girl band the Foams, the Action Toys, the Stains, and others. In addition, many touring punk and new wave acts played Raul’s, too, including the Psychedelic Furs, Fear, Black Flag, the Subhumans, the Plugz, and the Dils.
Toast the memory of Raul's, which closed in 1981, with this 11 oz. mug featuring a Raul's poster design.
