Austin's oldest and largest video store, I LUV VIDEO, closed its doors in 2020.
Established in 1984 at the Slaughter Lane & Menchaca (then Manchaca) Road, the shop grew into a cultural force in Austin over its 30+ years. At its zenith, there were five continuously running I Luv Video locations across town, some of which had attached pizza kitchens and several of which stayed open till 3 a.m. The final location, on Airport Blvd., was a two-story treasure trove bursting at the seams with about 100,000 DVDs and VHS tapes.
