Ruby’s BBQ offered real pit-smoked barbecue. Ruby’s opened in November of 1988 and brought good, homemade food to the University of Texas area and the blues folks frequenting Antone’s. Frequented by musicians, film aficionados, and international visitors galore, Ruby's earned its reputation along the way.
Featuring brisket with a rubbed crust, smoked chicken that was "better'n anyone's", Elgin hot sausage and chopped beef sandwhiches, Ruby's was, for most, The BEST.
Rudy's closed in 2018, but we offer this salute to their menu and memory, complete with tangy, vinegar-laden sauce and strong ice tea.
