The famous Liberty Lunch "Wall" design adorned the legendary club/bar/eatery over the final years of its life (1975-1999). Throughout much of the 1980s and 90s, Liberty Lunch hosted music acts from Dave Matthews Band, the Smashing Pumpkins, and Nirvana to the Neville Brothers, the Uranium Savages) and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, to Iron Butterfly, Run DMC U2). It was considered by most to be one of the best music venues in Austin.

Liberty Lunch's reputation was laid back, unassuming and inclusive — everything patrons hoped Austin would continue to be. But it closed its doors for good July 31, 1999, killed off by the inexorable growth as small town Austin morphed into what it is today. But back in the day, $7 or $8 would buy an intimate evening with the likes of:

Dave Matthews Band, the Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, The Brian Setzer Orchestra, The Neville Brothers, The Uranium Savages, Timbuk3, Dwight Yoakam, The Skunks, Poco,  The Tragically Hip, Fishbone, The Violent Femmes, Green Day, Beck, Alanis Morissette, Nirvana, The Foo Fighters, k.d. lang, John Sebastian, No Doubt, Asleep At The Wheel, Dolly Parton, Hootie and The Blowfish, Hot Tuna, Spirit, New Riders of The Purple Sage, The Flaming Lips, Black Flag, Wendy O.
