Vintage Austin, Texas design.

Mad Dog & Bean's was a simple and quaint burger stand on the edge of the University of Texas West Campus that looked like what you'd expect to see in a film about old Austin. With outstanding burgers, fries and malts, it was the kind of place you took out of town company to eat. Inexpensive, innovative, with offerings like their Primo burger, a quarter-pound burger blended with bacon, jalapeños and onions, then grilled and topped with melted cheese. Mad Dog & Beans was part of the daily menu for generations of UT students.

Sadly, we lost Mad Dog and Beans to progress in the mid-1990s. We'll always remember Mad Dog and Beans as one of those places that you wanted to go back to, with its simple, unpretentious, tasty food. Many Austin-ites miss it. RIP Mad Dogs. But you can remember it again with this tribute to their 'mad' existence.
