The Pier restaurant and marina began operations in 1958 on Lake Austin. It was originally built in 1928 as a fishing lodge and then became known as a speakeasy throughout the Prohibition era.

In more modern times, The Pier was known for good food (great cheeseburgers), and an outstanding jukebox, with artists like Leon Russell (2004-5) making concert appearances there.

Throughout the 1960s & 70s, a boat from Tarrytown ran across Lake Austin to The Pier and back.

The Pier on Lake Austin is no more, but good memories remain.
