In 1912, the Boston Red Sox won their second World Championship and played its home games at Fenway Park for the first time. The Red Sox finished with a record of 105 wins and 47 losses (most wins by the team until 2018), and recorded their highest winning percentage (.691) in a season. Behind center fielder Tris Speaker and pitcher Smoky Joe Wood, the Red Sox topped the New York Giants in eight games, 4–3, having played the Giants to a tie in Game 2.
