Parked right next door to Les Amis in downtown Austin, Mad Dog & Beans was part of the daily landscape for generations of UT students in the 1970s and 80s. It was a place to fill your belly and clog your heart. The food -- oh, wow; the prices? Oh My! Check out the menu on the side of the mug.
So we have recreated the menu from circa 1980 for those who still remember stopping by for a burger, chicken friend steak (half off on Tuesdays) Frito pie, onion rings and a milkshake or a beer. It was simply the best around campus and we all felt we didn't go there enough.
The 80's were cool, and Mad Dog & Beans helped carry that flag.
