Let's Twist where the Twist was made famous. The Peppermint Lounge opened in 1958. With a mahogany bar, lots of mirrors and a dance floor at the back, it fueled the major dance craze 1960--The Twist.
The Twist became inexorably associated with the Peppermint Lounge, and Hollywood and other celebrities flocked there in droves to do the dance, and to be seen there. Because the dance did not require a partner, one could dance with, or near anyone, of either sex.
The Peppermint Lounge is also purported to be the originator of the platform-raised go-go dancer.
