The location had many other names over the years, including the Touchdown Lounge, the Pink Lizard Lounge, the Buffalo Gap, Gemini’s, the Hungry Horse, Sunshine’s Party, and the Texas Showdown.

Austin's original punk music venue. Raul’s Club was a bar and nightclub in Austin, and was the epicenter of Austin's punk rock scene between 1978 and 1982. Originally a Tejano club, Raul's was located across from the northwest end of the University of Texas campus. It was the first club of its kind in Austin and the only venue for punk/new wave bands for some time. Successful bands broadened their fan base by playing at other Austin venues, too, such as the Continental Club, Soap Creek and the Armadillo World Headquarters.

Local bands appearing at Raul’s were Joe "King" Carrasco and the Crowns, the Stains, the Skunks, the Standing Waves, Sharon Tate's Baby, the Dicks, the Radio Planets, the Big Boys, the Reactors, the Ideals, the Rejects, Boy Problems, the Re*cords, the Chickadiesels, the Delinquents, D-Day, the Foams, the Action Toys, the Gator Family, the Derelicts and others. Touring acts like Patti Smith and Elvis Costello popped in to jam.

Have a drink and toast Raul's memory.
