Silver Dollar Dance Hall
There was nickel beer and lots of two-stepping at the Silver Dollar dance halll. Originally located at Burnet Road & 183 (next door to the Lumber Yard), the format was so popular in the 1970s and 80s that a second SIlver Dollar opened in Oak Hill. Imagine 25-cent pitchers, $3 cover chare to guys only (and no cover charge with a student I.D.) and seeing George Strait, Chubby Checkers, Tammy Wynette, Willie Nelson, Ernst Tubb and the Texas Trubadores. It was the place to scoot your boots!
